Hydrogenation of Alkenes with Metal Catalysts
Hydrogenation of Alkenes with Metal Catalysts: Experimental Procedure
The hydrogenation is carried out in a solution of the alkene in solvents, such as water, methanol, ethanol, acetic acid, and ethyl acetate. Neat liquid alkenes can also be hydrogenated. The catalyst is added to the solution and hydrogen under slight pressure is continously passed through the strongly agitated reaction mixture until uptake ceases.
