Synthesis of cyclohexane

More than 1 million tons of cyclohexane are produced worldwide by hydrogenation of benzene. Most of it is oxidized to cyclohexanone which finds application in the syntheses of intermediates, such as adipic acid, hexamethylenediamine and ε-caprolactams, used for the preparation of polyamides.

Synthesis of tetralin (tetrahydronaphthalene)

Tetralin is being used as a a solvent.
