sp3 hybridizationZoomA-Z

Subject - General Chemistry

The linear combination of one s orbital and three p orbitals results in the formation of four equivalent orbitals which point to the corners of a tetrahedron (tetrahedral angle: 109.47°). This process is defined as hybridization and the resulting orbitals are called sp3 orbitals. These orbitals contain 1/4 s and 3/4 p character.
