face-centered cubic structureZoomA-Z

Subject - General Chemistry

A face-centered cubic structure consists of a cubic unit cell in which the eight spheres at the corners of the cube are only 1/8 contained in the unit cell. The six faces of the cube each have a sphere at the center, half of which belongs to the neighboring unit cell. The unit cell contains a total of four formula units. The packing efficiency of the spheres in this type of cell is 74%.
